Chapter Six

The schedule ends up being a good idea. There’s always at least one girl in my bed, sometimes two, and I contemplate getting a bigger bed so we can have three or all four with me some nights. Sometimes we fuck, sometimes we don’t. I kind of like the slow and sleepy bedtime fucking, and both Chantelle and Madison seem to enjoy it the most out of the four girls.

The first few weeks of September fly by, with all the dancer girls getting more and more frazzled the closer we get to their September Showcase at the end of the month. Even non-dancer Sera has been roped into the madness and will be helping backstage. I could have helped, too, but I really want to see the girls perform. I’ve seen them practicing a bit in the studio and they all look amazing to me, but I don’t know shit about ballet or any other dance stuff. Chantelle seems the most uptight, since she’s choreographing a duet, which just makes me enjoy our slow, sleepy love making even more. It seems to help calm her down and she says she sleeps better on the nights we’re together, but she doesn’t want to ‘hog my cock’. Her words, not mine.

Work is going well, and Ivy promoted me to be a keyholder, so I can open and close the shop on my own. The promotion also came with a bit of a raise, which is nice. Heidi has been stressing a bit about house expenses since we didn’t end up with that many boarders, but we’re staying afloat.

I’m leaving for work in the morning, when I see a man in a suit hammering a red and white “For Sale” sign into the front lawn of the house next door. The property that Hannigan House sits on is quite large, so it’s a bit of a walk to get to the house next door, and it’s in the opposite direction of downtown. But I turn towards the man anyway, waving as I get closer. He looks young-ish, probably in his early thirties. He has dark brown hair, and he’s wearing a pair of thick framed black glasses.

“Hey!” I say as I reach the guy. “Are you a real estate agent? Ethel is selling?”

I know the woman who lives in the house is named Ethel. She’s older and we don’t see her much, but she had been friends with my great aunt.

“Yeah, man. I’m Kyle. Kyle Nichols,” the guy says, shaking my hand.

“Jim Lewis,” I say. “Nice to meet you.”

Kyle looks up at Ethel’s house, shielding his eyes from the morning sun. The house is an old Victorian style, like Hannigan House, just on a much smaller scale.

“Ethel and I are hoping we can find a family for the property,” Kyle says. “She doesn’t want to sell to Rich Cooper, even if it means she takes a loss.”

“Really?” I ask. “That’s good news.”

“Thought you’d like to hear it,” he says. “Thanks, by the way.
